Few cars hold their value as well as the G-Class, and that applies to an example with damage too. On this page we bring together what the car dealers, traders and dismantling companies in our network offer, from the Netherlands and abroad. That way you can survey the market in one go. Filter by year of manufacture, engine option or type of damage and then contact the seller yourself.
What is listed is determined by what our partners buy in, and it changes daily. The G-Class has been built since 1979 and has kept its ladder chassis, its rigid rear axle and its three differential locks throughout all those years. What did change are the engines and the level of luxury, and that is precisely where the difference in value lies.
The diesels make up the largest part of the vehicle population in the Netherlands. Since the 2018 generation, that means a 3.0 straight-six that first delivered 330 hp and, after the 2024 update, ends up at 367 hp, supported by a 48-volt system.
These versions are mostly driven for business and most often turn up as damaged vehicles. Ask for the service book; with a car of this calibre, a documented history is a large part of the value.
With this generation, also look at the rear air suspension and the electronics of the differential locks. Those are the systems that are first to give faults after an impact.
That is partly because these versions were often registered as commercial vehicles (grijs kenteken), which considerably reduced the monthly costs for business owners.
The petrol versions are built around the 4.0 V8 twin-turbo. In the G 500 it delivers more than 420 hp and in the AMG G 63 that rises to 585 hp, with its own chassis, wider wings and a side-exit exhaust.
On the AMG, virtually all body panels are model-specific. They do not fit an ordinary G-Class and are extraordinarily expensive new, which strongly influences the sums after damage.
Since 2024 there has also been a fully electric G, with four separate motors and a battery of more than 100 kWh in a protected frame under the car. At the other end of the spectrum are the older generations: the G 300 TD and G 320 from the nineties and the countless commercial and military versions.
It is these older examples that often come in as restoration projects. The technology is simple, but rust in the chassis and doors decides whether a car is worth the trouble.
With an ex-military or ex-commercial version, it also pays to check the papers carefully. Not every G with special bodywork can simply be registered as a passenger car.
There is no fixed stock list. You specify what your Mercedes G-Class salvage car must meet and then see whether anything suitable is available right now:
Nothing suitable today? With this model, patience is part of the deal. Save your search or this page and check back regularly, so that you are there as soon as a partner lists one.
Does a car stand out? The listing shows detailed photos and the complete damage description, along with the seller’s details.
You assess an off-roader with a separate chassis fundamentally differently from a modern SUV with a monocoque body. Four points are decisive.
Beneath the bodywork is a sturdy frame on which everything is built up. That makes the G robust, but if the frame has been shifted by an impact, you are talking about straightening work of a completely different order from replacing a panel.
So ask for photos of the underside and check whether the doors and bonnet still close evenly. With a car that has an off-road past, it is also worth having the axles and the locks assessed.
The G-Class has heavy doors with their familiar click, and they hang on hinges that develop play after years. On older generations, the bottom of the doors and the tailgate also deserve attention; that is where rust starts. If you need such a part, you will find it through our platform in a salvage vehicle for a fraction of the new price.
The insurer sets the repair costs against the market value. With the G-Class, that market value is actually high, so a car is only written off after heavy damage. If one does turn up, it is often a badly damaged example that still holds plenty of value in its parts.
Assess vehicle by vehicle whether repair is realistic or whether the value lies mainly in the components: the engine, the automatic, the axles with their locks, the complete interior or the AMG-specific parts.
Obtain the damage history using the chassis number and ask for the reports from the insurer or an approved repairer as well. With a car of this value, the service book should be on the table too.
Also check that there is no block on the vehicle. With a complete file, re-registration or export to Germany, Poland or the Middle East goes a good deal more smoothly.
With sums of this size, the origin of the car is just as important as its condition. That is why we vet every dealer in advance for affiliation with organisations such as the Vereniging Schadevoertuighandel (VSV) and the Stichting Verzekeringsbureau Voertuigcriminaliteit (VbV). A large share of what they offer comes directly from insurers.
Every Mercedes G-Class salvage car with us comes with sharp photos and detailed specifications. They let you establish in advance whether it is a case of bodywork damage or whether there is more to it, for example in the chassis or the drivetrain.
Want to know more? Ask the dealer for images of the chassis rails and the wheel arches. On an off-roader, that is where you read the true condition.
You deal with the dealer directly, with no party in between. That keeps the price sharp and the number of links in the chain small. What is more, a damaged G-Class costs considerably less than a comparable one without damage. What else we offer you:
From specialists who buy for restoration to traders who work for export: buyers differ widely here. Does your own plan appear below?
With a car that has been in production for decades, the key is finding the right part for the right generation. That is why, alongside the car, you will also find Mercedes salvage cars and high-quality used car parts for this specific model.
That way you get the vehicle and the parts to repair it from the same sources. It saves you doing the rounds of suppliers and, with the older generations, a long hunt as well.
Do you buy in a professional capacity? Then from a single account you keep the incoming stock and the available donor vehicles together in view.
“Every dealer with us is selected in advance and continually supplies their stock. That keeps the listings on this page moving: if there is nothing today, something may be added tomorrow. With a car that holds its value this well, their assessment is indispensable. They state precisely what the damage does to repair costs and to residual value.”
Repairing a damaged G with used parts makes a big saving on costs and conserves raw materials. Putting an existing vehicle back to use takes far less material than building a new one.
With this model that goes almost without saying. A G-Class is built to last for decades, and the chassis, axles and doors contain an enormous amount of steel. As long as those parts are usable, they belong under another G and not on the scrap heap. We are glad to contribute to that reuse.

Do you have a general question about how buying a salvage car from us works? Then first take a look at the frequently asked questions from users. If something remains unanswered, send us an email; you will find our details on the customer service page.
No. The stock comes from our affiliated partners and changes from day to day. Because the G-Class holds its value well, few are written off, too. Save your search or this page and check back regularly.
To a large extent it does, provided the repair was carried out professionally and the file is complete. With this model in particular, buyers look at the history, so keep all invoices and reports. A documented repair weighs less heavily than an unknown past.
It means that the insurer puts the repair at more than the car’s current value. Because that value is high for the G, this happens less readily than with other models. If it does come to that, it is usually a case of severe damage.
Remarkably so, because Mercedes supplies parts for this model for an exceptionally long time and there is a lively specialist market. For AMG parts and for the older generations it is harder; for those, a salvage vehicle from our listings will ordinarily bring you to the right part sooner than any other option.
Yes, and with this model it happens regularly. Make sure the export papers and the damage history are in order and that you have the full registration document. Check beforehand that the car is not blocked in the register.
No. As a platform we bring supply and demand together; the sale is made by the affiliated partner. Any warranty therefore comes from the dealer who has the car.
